Touch A Truck Still On For Saturday

High temperatures for Saturday have many concerned about the heat.

Anne Phillips, Freedom Playground coordinator, said that this will still be on despite the National Weather Service's prediction that it maybe 102 degrees.

The 10 a.m. fund-raiser event at the , scheduled for Saturday, June 07, will feature construction trucks, a school bus, fire trucks, trash trucks and a cement mixer—among others—for children to climb on.

But with the temperatures predicted to be high, some are concerned about the heat.

Water and shade will be provided, wrote Chris Whiting in an email to the Haverford-Havertown Patch on Thursday morning.

The Haverford Township Civic Council president also added that there will be a water mister, a water slide and a water mister on top of a large fire truck ladder to help cool down children and adults. In addition, parking will be near the new air-conditioned .

In Phillips email to Patch on Friday morning she stated that she would send an update in case the event is cancelled.

Last year's Touch-A-Truck event was .  for later in July last year.

But Saturday's event is about raising money for a good cause, wrote Whiting.

"We need to raise money for shade sails to keep the playground cool in hot weather," he wrote. "The shade sails are part of our continuing effort to make the playground accessible to all children even in hot weather."

In addition to climbing on firetrucks and going down water slides, there is a raffle too, Whiting added.

"... Jim McCann has arranged for the paramedic helicopter to be on site and a helicopter ride will be raffled off. The ride will be to Plymouth Meeting and includes a car ride back to Freedom Playground," Whiting wrote.

The cost to get into the event is $20 per car/family or $5 per person.
