NWS Issues Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Strong thunderstorms and hail might hit the county Friday night, the National Weather Service warns.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8 p.m., Friday for Delaware and the surrounding counties.

There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms during the overnight, mainly before 4 a.m., the NWS issued.

“Some of the storms could produce small hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning,” the NWS warned for Friday night.

The expected nighttime low will be around 67 degrees, according to the NWS.

For Saturday, there is a slight chance of rain and thunderstorms before 11 a.m., but the NWS states that the day might be mostly sunny, with a possible high of around 83 degrees.
