Morning Commute An Icy One

Roads maybe slick with ice.

Early-morning drivers are urged to be careful when they venture out onto the roads, warns the National Weather Service (NWS).

As much as half an inch of ice may cover cars, trees and poles due to the early-morning freezing rain, the NWS warns, as the morning commute maybe slick.

“All untreated surfaces will be hazardous through the morning commute,” NWS warns of area roadways.

The freezing rain is one of the contributing factors as to why the Haverford School District and the Haverford School will be .

However, by 9 a.m., it is expected that the freezing rain will turn into regular rain, the NWS states.

The weather system that came during the overnight brought snow before changing into freezing rain.

SEPTA is reporting that trolley lines may experience delays due to the weather conditions and that the Norristown High Speed Line is operating every 15 minutes and running with only local service.

SEPTA is also warning of possible regional rail delays on all lines.
