Kiwi Yogurt Opens Grandly in Haverford

Kiwi Yogurt hosted a grand opening today on Lancaster Avenue.

Delaware County got a new treat to keep it cool this hot summer with the opening of Kiwi Yogurt in Haverford.

Kiwi celebrated its grand opening today by giving away eight ounces of frozen yogurt per customer (they continue until 10 p.m.). Anything over the free eight ounces was 49 cents per ounce—the regular price Kiwi will charge after its grand unveiling.

The customers that stood in line awaiting the opening of the store at noon were treated to a regular cup or a waffle bowl cup they were invited to fill with any of the 16 different flavors Kiwi offers, along with dozens of toppings from raspberries and dark chocolate chips to, appropriately, kiwi.

Ryan Mealey, graduate of Villanova and owner of Kiwi, was on hand to greet customers and field questions about the company she co-owns with her brother Matt, a Penn State grad.

“We believe in the concept and the product and we want our customers to have the best experience,” Mealey said.

Kiwi got its start in Cherry Hill, N.J.in June 2009 when Ryan and Matt opened their first store. Now they currently own six different Kiwi stores, with the Haverford location being their most recent opening.

Each Kiwi offers a rotating menu of 16 different flavors that Mealey said they change often enough to avoid being boring. She added that some of the most popular flavors are red velvet cake and birthday cake.

Their waffle bowls are also made fresh every morning and free water is always offered on the counter.

Kiwi Yogurt will be managed by Anita Mazurek and is located diagonal from the Haverford Post Office on Lancaster Avenue.

They are open seven days a week, Sunday through Thursday from noon to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from noon to 11 p.m.
