Hilltop Civic Shows How to Celebrate July 4th

Haverford Township's Hilltop Civic Association hosts another successful Independence Day Celebration.

In the morning on July 4, garage doors belonging to residents of the Hilltop Civic Association opened, and scores of bicycles, wagons and strollers rolled out onto the pavement. Nearly every inch of exposed surface was plastered in a variety of different red, white and blue materials.

On this gray morning of Independence Day, a competition loomed on the horizon that would answer one very simple question: "How proud of America are you?"

The annual Hilltop Civic Association Independence Day Celebration kicked off at the Bon Air Fire House on Royal Avenue, with firetrucks and ambulances leading dozens of glittering, flag-like bikes and wagons. Neighbors showed up in their front lawns to support all of the participants and to help celebrate the nation's independence.

The parade came to a halt at Hilltop field, but the celebration continued until just before noon.
