Haverford School Collects Cans For Food Drive

"The Haverford School-Episcopal Academy-Agnes Irwin Can Drive, an annual part of EA Day activities, kicked off with an assembly on Nov. 7 and ran through Nov. 21. The donations go to the Life Center of Delaware County, St. Barnabas Mission for Homeless Mothers and their Children, The Center for Positive Aging in Ardmore, and low-income senior citizens in Philadelphia through the Old Pine Community Church’s Saturday for Seniors program.

"The annual Can Dance raised $5,400 and more than 3,000 cans, which will be divided between St. Barnabas, St. Mary’s, and America Responds with Love, to help support their efforts in providing services to area residents who are challenged by hunger and homelessness.

"This year, The Haverford School collected more than 12,000 cans. The Can Drive with Episcopal Academy has been running for 20 years and with Agnes Irwin for the past 6. During that time, the three-school effort has collected more than 1 million cans to fight hunger locally," the school's press release stated.
