Haverford Patch Editor Says Goodbye

Anthony Leone is moving on, but wishes everyone well.

With deep regret it is my sad duty to inform you that I will be leaving the Haverford-Havertown Patch today as its editor.

But during my time covering Haverford Township I truly enjoyed getting to know the many residents, business owners and elected leaders, all who shape Havertown into a great place to be.

You have allowed me to enter your homes, schools, businesses and government buildings to share the joys and sorrows that life unexpectedly brings us all.

I’ve been a journalist for a long time, working for newspapers, magazines and news websites in a lot of different roles, but I think I can safely say that being at Patch has been one of the highlights of my career. It was great getting back into daily news reporting and it was because of that that I discovered what a delightful surprise Havertown really is.

The Haverford-Havertown Patch grew into such a great place for news and community engagement because of you, the readers, and my trusted and skilled freelancers, with whom I owe a lot to because they put a lot of themselves into this news website as much as I have.

In fact, it was because of them that the Haverford-Havertown Patch got some of the big stories that the other news organizations didn’t have.

And I have met so many wonderful people along this journey that I hate to see it end. But just because I will not be the editor of the Haverford-Havertown Patch it does not mean that I won’t be around.

While I don’t live in Havertown (but I’m right on the border), my wife and children and I come to this great place nearly daily to eat, play, learn and grow.

Thank you for allowing this outsider to be a part of this grand community. The honor has been mine.

Take care,

Anthony Leone
