YMCA Will Celebrate Its Opening on Friday

On Friday the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA will officially cut the ribbon to the new state-of-the-art Haverford Area YMCA at 891 N. Eagle Road in Havertown.

On Friday the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA will officially cut the ribbon to the new state-of-the-art Haverford Area YMCA at 891 N. Eagle Road in Havertown. The YMCA opened October 1.

More than two hundred community members will join Senator Daylin Leach and other local officials in welcoming the new YMCA to the community.

The Haverford High School Band and Haverford Middle School Choir will provide entertainment and assist Y members, donors, volunteers and staff in celebrating the new YMCA. A special presentation of free Y memberships will be made in honor of the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA’s 7th Grade Membership Initiative. 
 
Representatives from Independence Blue Cross and PECO, an Exelon Corporation, corporate sponsors and local contributors to the Haverford Area YMCA, will also participate in the celebration.

Independence Blue Cross has helped to bring the Independence Blue Cross Wellness Center to fruition. PECO has donated the new Y’s Indoor Running and Walking Track. The double gymnasium has been underwritten by the Pete & Jameer Nelson Foundation. 

The Haverford Area YMCA will serve approximately 20,000 people in the Haverford Township  community. The new Y includes a 13,000 square-foot wellness center, a double gymnasium, group exercise studios, youth activity center, aquatic center including a family fun pool, a 6 lane lap pool, sauna and whirlpool.
