Springfield Man First in Line for Doughnuts

This is not the first time he's done this.

Timothy Folkomer of Springfield is determined to win a dozen free Krispy Kreme Doughnuts every week for the next year.

All he has to do to win them is stay first in line at the new Krispy Kreme Doughnut shop at the Manoa Shopping Center on West Chester Pike in Havertown.

As a retired geologist and teacher, Dr. Folkomer, PhD  ("Doc" as his business card says), has the time to devote to being the first in line. He says he arrived Sunday morning a little after 10 a.m., right after teaching a Sunday school class at Covenant United Methodist Church.

Folkomer is a veteran Krispy Kreme winner.  He tells Patch he won a dozen doughnuts every week for a year by being the first in line at the now-closed Krispy Kreme in Springfield (that building is now home to Chic-Fil-A).

Folkomer tells Patch that he plans to use the prize to provide doughnut gifts to his friends and organizations.

He says his wife will help him make it through his 32-hour doughnut vigil by bringing him hot soup, warm blankets, and sitting in his pole position chair every once in a while to give him a chance to take a restroom break.
