Havertown Music Therapy Provider Wins Achievement Award

KYW Newsradio 2013 Women's Achievement Awards will be presented Tuesday evening.

Lori O’Leary, Executive Director of MusicWorks, a nonprofit music therapy service provider in Havertown, is a winner of the KYW Newsradio 2013 Women’s Achievement Awards. 

The awards will be presented Tuesday evening.

MusicWorks provides services to children and young adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, developmental delays and genetic abnormalities. The center opened in July 2011 and now services 140 clients per week, according to the organization.

MusicWorks supplies services to Overbrook School for the Blind, Presbyterian Children’s Village, Child Guidance Resource Centers, and the Delaware County Intermediate Unit as well as into community living group homes for CADES, Elwyn and LifePath, according to a press release.

O’Leary founded MusicWorks, along with her husband Jerry.

She is a Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America. She is a graduate of Vassar College and earned her MBA from the Stern Business School at New York University, according to the release.
