Red carpet attire or costumes inspired by nominated films are encouraged.

Haverford's is one of many who will be offering prizes at the , which is hosting its fourth annual Oscar Party at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26.

The event will feature a live simulcast of the awards show, a buffet by JPM Catering with beer pairings from the Victory Brewing Company, and the second annual silent auction.

There is also a raffle for a five-night stay at an apartment in Paris.

Andrew J. Douglas, BMFI’s director of education, and Valerie Temple, BMFI’s programming manager, will be providing commentary throughout the event, said Public Relations Manager Devin Wachs. Both Douglas and Temple have comedy backgrounds—just in case Academy Awards host Billy Crystal needs some help.

This year, Bryn Mawr Film Institute has shown a number of the Oscar-nominated films, as they have in past years.

Attendees are encouraged to dress up either as if they were walking the red carpet themselves or in costume from one of the Oscar-nominated films. In past years, they had some good costumes inspired by True Grit, The Dark Knight and Slumdog Millionaire, Wachs said. Costumes aren’t required, but they’re recommended, she said.

“Maybe we’ll see some Hawaiian shirts from The Descendants,” Wachs said. “I hope we see at least one Marilyn [from My Week With Marilyn], maybe some 1920s flair from The Artist.”

Tickets are $60 for BMFI members and $70 for the general public. All proceeds benefit BMFI, which is a non-profit organization. Limited tickets are still available, Wachs said.
