Giant Recalls Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice

Giant has recalled Uncle Ben's Whole Grain White Rice Garden Vegetable because it may contain milk, an undeclared allergen. The product is safe to consume for those who are not allergic.

Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice Garden Vegetable has been recalled from Giant Food Stores because the product may contain milk, an undeclared allergen.

In a press release given to the media Thursday morning, the product's suppliers, Mars Food, Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets has removed from sale Uncle Ben’s Whole Grain White Rice Garden Vegetable.

At the moment, there has been no reports of illnesses associated from eating the rice, the press release stated, which can be found accompanying this article.

"Symptoms of food allergies typically appear from within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten the food to which he or she is allergic. Allergic reactions can include: hives; flushed skin or rash; tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth; face, tongue, or lip swelling; vomiting and/or diarrhea; abdominal cramps; coughing or wheezing; dizziness and/or lightheadedness; swelling of the throat and vocal cords; difficulty breathing; loss of consciousness," the press release cautioned.

For customers who have bought the particular brand of food should either discard it or bring receipt to either Giant or Martin's for a full refund, the press release advised.
