Cafe D'Angelo opened at 26 East Eagle Road in Havertown this week.

Co-owner Nicole D'Angelo said it has been a dream for her to open her own restaurant. She has worked in the food industry all her life. Her partner is this venture is her bother Domenic who "wasn't in the business, but is now," she said, laughing. Domenic has his own tile-setting business.

The cafe serves Italian-American fare, Nicole said. In September they will start lunch service, but for now dinner service begins at 5 p.m. Cafe D'Angelo is a BYOB.

The menu includes Tuna Carpaccio over arugula with red onion and shaved Asiago cheese ($12), Petite Filet over a Portobello mushroom in a creamy crab sauce ($24), and homemade chicken Parmesan over linguini ($17).

Both Nicole and Domenic love to cook, they said. "I love to eat it, too," Domenic said of their menu items. Nicole's husband Robert Gagliardi and Domenic's fiancee Courtney Openshaw are also helping out in the business.

Cafe D'Angelo's phone number is (610) 449-2690.

Nicole said there have been "a million surprises" since starting this new venture, but it has given her a new appreciation for small business owners.
