MusicWorks is a music therapy non-profit organization in Havertown that serves children and young adults who have many types of challenges.
But this fall they are offering a new class called MusicWorks JAMS, which is a music education, appreciation and enrichment program for children of all abilities. It will run Tuesday and Thursday mornings in two sessions, for ages birth up to three years and three to five years.
The classes will be formulating in September and will be run by a music therapist. The 10-week program costs $165.
“We felt that there was a gap where children could learn more from a music therapist who is trained in psychology,” said Lori O’Leary, executive director of MusicWorks.Meet the Couple Behind MusicWorks in Havertown
The program encourages hands-on music making, dance and movement activities for young children and their parents, families and caregivers. They will explore letters, numbers, shapes, sizes, colors, feelings, senses, words and ideas through creative and innovative music activities, according to MusicWorks.
The children bring along their parents or caregivers to sessions.
