After its building was closed for nearly 6 months for construction, Main Line Art Center celebrated its re-opening with an all-ages house party on November 9.

The Welcome Back Bash featured fire-spinning, live graffiti painting, elaborate face painting for all ages, artist demos, free crafts for kids, and the opening of the annual Members’ Exhibition.

The event drew in more than 400-500 students, members, and friends of the Art Center eager to see the improvements made to their home for creativity.  During the summer, the Art Center held classes, camp, and exhibitions at offsite locations.

The $2 million renovation project began in June, and included new Jewelry and Painting Studios, a new wall of windows to infuse the Ceramics Studio with natural light, and various other improvements throughout the building.

The Center’s front door will now be used as the main entrance to the building, allowing visitors to experience the changing landscape of art hanging in the award-winning galleries.

Classes for all ages, levels, and abilities resumed at the Art Center on November 11.  The Members Exhibition is on view through November 22.  Next up in the galleries is the Art Center’s popular Holiday Fine Craft Sale, running December 5-15.  For more information about Main Line Art Center, visit www.mainlineart.org or call 610.525.0272.
