Haverford Actor Makes the Big Time in Philly

She started in a Haverford Middle School production and now she's making it in acting's big leagues.

Marissa Barnathan made her stage debut in Bye Bye Birdie at Haverford Middle School...as a boy.

Now she's making it in big time theater while staying close to her roots as a professional performer with Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theater.

According to an annoucement posted on Haverford Patch:

As a child, Marissa Barnathan had been to Walnut Street Theatre to see shows with her family. Now she is up on stage herself as one of this season's acting apprentices.

Marissa grew up in Havertown and attended Haverford High School. Her first play was Bye Bye Birdie in middle school. She then went on the study theatre and psychology at Washington University in St. Louis.

Now Barnathan travels to schools in the Delaware Valley and performs various curriculum-based shows for students.

According to the Patch announcement she will be performing in her next role as Fly in Diary of a Worm, a Spider and a Fly from March 30-April 13.
