Dawn Hiatt and Mark Mandeville @ Burlap and Bean

An evening with Dawn Hiatt and Mark Mandeville.
A special double feature.

Born to a family of musicians and race car drivers, Dawn grew up singing in church in Western New York. Her family eventually resettled to the farmlands of Southern New Jersey outside Philadelphia. After finishing college, Dawn shuffled off to New York City where she began her career in writing and performing original music. This constant movement has provided her life with many twists and turns that continue to motivate her career in music. Her experiences caring for orphans in Guatemala, teaching inner city middle school students in New York, working as a nanny in Chicago and traveling all over America have been instrumental in her songwriting. Since 2006, the collaboration between Mark Mandeville and his musical soul mate Raianne Richards have produced the delicate compositions of "The Accident That Led Me To The World," as well as two distinct solo records, and this fall the duo will be accompanied by drummer Dylan S. Clark and guitarist Zach Peckham to herald the release of Mandeville's Old Constitution. This unexpected joining of veteran musicians transmits in full stereo the carefully arranged folk/country sound recently commanded by Mandeville and Richards. Carefully crafted folk songs tastefully arranged and presented in a popular fashion, by definition Americana or lamely, folk rock - songs range from jumpy swing tracks (featuring Richards on electric bass), to bluegrass, country, and that lonely sound which has kept listening audiences captivated.
