Join us for an afternoon of music and history.  Joe Becton sings and plays traditional musical instruments as he takes participants on a walk through American history and music from Sy Gillat to John Coltrane.  He traces styles of music developed by Africans in America and the collision of cultures that created the music we call gospel, jazz and blues.

Bully - A 2011 documentary film about bullying in U.S. Schools.  Directed by Lee Hirsch, the film follows the lives of five students who face bullying on a daily basis.  Please stay for a community discussion after the film.

The  film series is free and open to the public.  Community members, students, parents, teachers, and school administrators are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The film series is made possible through a partnership between the Haverford Township Free Library, the Haverford Township Adult School, and the School District of Haverford Township.

Zombie Movie Night

Tuesday, October 24 -- 7:30 pm
The library invites you to a showing of Shaun of the Dead.  Classic movie snacks will be provided and there will be a free raffle with zombie-themed prizes!  Staff will also be available for anyone who would like to sign-up for a library card.  Costumes welcome.  This program is free and open to the public.  Individuals under 18 must present a permission slip found in the teen information center or contact Sheli at 610-446-3082 ext. 216.

Medicare Open Enrollment - Independence Blue Cross: An Option

Friday, October 25 -- 12:30 pm
Do you have all of your questions answered about Medicare?  Before Open Enrollment ends on December 7, come learn about one of the plan options in the Medicare Program: Independence Blue Cross.  Tina Garrity of Senior Advisors Group will give a presentation on Blue Cross Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental Plans. She will highlight the plan benefits and changes for 2014. Through Senior Advisors, Ms. Garrity represents over 20 companies such as: Aetna, AARP, Mutual of Omaha, Central States Indemnity, Humana, Independence Blue Cross Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplemental Plans  and many more.  While her presentation will focus on Independence Blue Cross, she can answer questions about the difference between plans and about program participant's Medicare Advantage plan, Supplemental  (Medigap) plan, or their Part D Stand Alone Prescription Drug plan.
