Murder Charges for Collapsed Building Contractor

A "string of failures in the planning and execution of the demolition project" triggered the disaster that killed six people, including Mary Simpson.

A grand jury has charged contractor Griffin Campbell with six counts of third-degree murder, six counts of involuntary manslaughter and other offenses in a Center City building collapse in June that killed a Havertown native, according to Philly.com.

The charges could put Campbell behind bars for the rest of his life, District Attorney Seth Williams announced Monday.

A "string of failures in the planning and execution of the demolition project" triggered the disaster that killed six people, including Mary Simpson.

"In citing the owners of two firms involved in the work for safety violations, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration said the project went ahead without even an engineering survey,"Philly.com reports.
