Get Out Haverford! HMS Jazz Festival, Coffeehouse and More

HMS Jazz Festival

Find out what's happening in Haverford-Havertownwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

  • When: Friday, Feb. 8 from 7 - 11 p.m.
  • Where: Haverford High School
  • Why Go: The Haverford Middle School Jazz Festival includes ensembles from Springton Lake, Strath Haven, Welsh Valley, Germantown Friends, Beverly Hills and Drexel Hill middle schools who will compete. Each group will play for approximately 25 minutes. Awards will be presented at the end of the evening. The HMS Jazz Ensemble and HMS Fords will perform at the end of the evening and the HHS Jazz Combo will entertain during intermissions. 
  • Cost: Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

Songwriters and Author Coffeehouse

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.
  • Where:  Old Haverford Friends Meeting House, 235 E Eagle Rd, Havertown
  • Why Go: Enjoy this free coffeehouse at Old Haverford Friends Meeting House. This month, local singer songwriters Tim Simmons and Dave Calamaro, plus readings from local author Marc Schuster.
  • Cost: Free

Environmental Art Project

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 10 from 2 - 4 p.m.
  • Where: Haverford Reserve Darby Rd & College Ave, Haverford
  • Why Go: Bring your recycling and help create recycled art sculptures that inspire people to recycle more. These large sculptures will be displayed in and around the CREC.
  • Cost: Free

From Concentration Camp to Today's Issues...Connections of History

  • When: Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m.
  • Where: Haverford Township Free Library 1601 Darby Rd, Havertown
  • Why Go: Mr. Hiro Nishikawa will discuss his childhood experiences in a Japanese internment camp in Poston, AZ during WWII, as well as the  historical and social context in which the incarceration took place, the Redress Movement, and the connection to current events.
  • Cost: Free

Haverford Township Farmers Market

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 9 from 1 - 3 p.m.
  • Where: Grace Chapel, 1 W. Eagle Road, Havertown
  • Why Go: The Winter Market is located in the lower parking lot of Grace Chapel.  For information on vendors, please visit their website.
