Harcum College Adding Division I Men's Soccer

Bryn Mawr, PA October 25, 2013 – Officials at Harcum College have announced the addition of a men’s soccer team for the 2014-2015 school year. Men’s soccer will compete at the Division I level within Region 19 of the NJCAA.

Leading the Bears into their first season as a head coach will be Matt MacWilliams. Currently MacWilliams is an assistant coach with the Lady Bears women’s soccer team at Harcum College. Upon the conclusion of the women’s season, MacWilliams will begin his men’s soccer team responsibilities full time as he recruits a full roster of players for fall of 2014.

MacWilliams was a standout performer for Temple University where he played for his father Dave MacWilliams, head coach for the Temple Men’s Soccer team, from 2009-2012. Prior to Temple, MacWilliams was a standout soccer player and captain at North Penn High School where he scored ten goals and earned sixteen assists during his senior year.

MacWilliams also played for the Ocean City Nor’easters in the Premier Development League (PDL) and won the Philly Soccer Six Player of the Year. He has also played four years for the Olympic Development Program (ODP), and participated in club soccer for the Montgomery United where they won three straight state titles.

Men's soccer will be eleventh sport at the College. Harcum currently fields teams in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track and field, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.

Harcum College men’s soccer will compete within NJCAA Region 19 which is made up of junior colleges located within Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Harcum will be the 5th Region 19 school to offer Division I men’s soccer.
