Community Corner

A NEW MUNICIPAL BUILDING WHICH WILL INCLUDE THE POLICE STATION AND A LIBRARY.

My Commissioner Steve D'Emilio was concerned about his neighbors having  a tax increase put on them, and he let us know that the Commissioners have already voted on these building projects. Why do we need to borrow money at a time like this? We have people on fixed income living in Havertown, families, people just making it and increasing our taxes by 14% could force people out of their homes. We all, I believe want our police to have everything necessary to help protect the community and themselves but a new police station? We already have spent money updating the current police station a few years back. Changing the officers uniforms, changing to color of the police cars, adding the expense of 4 police dogs, the up keep of 4 motorcycles that are only used for parades, the bicycles that are not being used. When does the police chief stop getting everything he wants. Last year the township commissioners halted a money making program for the township that is again costing the township money when the leaf composting project was stopped because a lady had gagging problems. This program was making a profit and not given enough time to have the kinks worked out and now some of the commissioners want to increase our taxes again.  We all must contact our commissioners and stop this wasteful spending
