Tea and Stitch, Build a Backpack in Havertown Friday

Read about some of the things happening in and around Haverford and Havertown on Friday.

1. Friday is the last scheduled day for weed inspection and herbicide application in all Haverford School District flower beds and Haverford High School sidewalk and curbs.

2. Performance Fitness "Build A Backpack!" Campaign through September 7 in Wynnewood and Havertown. Performance Fitness has partnered with the Cradles to Crayons "Ready for School" program and set a goal of building 60 backpacks to ensure the success of children in need. Attend any class for just $5.00 per class from now until 9/7. Your donation will go toward our Build A Backpack campaign. For full details, and to register, go to www.BuildABackpack.net.

3. Tea & Stitch at 10 a.m. at Haverford Township Free Library. Bring your knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, quilting, or other handwork specialty and have a cup of tea. Tea and Stitch is a program that has met every Friday for 10 years bringing all ages together who enjoy the needle arts. No registration is required.

4. Not in Haverford, but nearby will be the Yellow Brick Road: A Tribute to Elton John at Rose Tree Park at 7:30 p.m. The event is free.

5. Some Haverford Township homes will be up for sale at the Sheriff's Sale in Delaware County on Friday.
