On Friday during a press conference, the Blue Ribbon Commission made its recommendation to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to close four high schools and 44 out of 156 elementary schools at the end of the school year in June. It was confirmed that 44 out of the 156 elementary schools in the Archdiocese will be closing in June. Seven of those 44 schools are in Delaware County, including Annunciation B.V.M. Did you know that The Haverford School's Notables sang the National Anthem on Saturday, July 23? And the Phillies beat the Padres 8-6.

Sinead Farrelly, 21 of Havertown, is on the U.S. Women's Soccer team. Farrelly, a midfielder, and her teammates beat France 3 to 1 during the  semi-finals Wednesday, reported CNN. Remember the May 25 fire at Halpin-Regal & Donze, the home remodeling business? YouTube user omnibahumut uploaded video of that fire. Brookline Fire Co. Fire Chief John Viola told the Haverford-Havertown Patch, at the time, that the owner of the business called 911 after seeing sparks and fire “shooting out of the electrical box” that was in the basement of the business. Viola said the owner, Ron Hoofven, tried to get back down into the basement but could not because of the heavy smoke and evacuated the building, where the business is on the first floor.
