The Beaumont Retirement Community, located at 601 N. Ithan Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010, will host a Panel Discussion this Saturday, October 20, 2012, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
A star studded panel of local experts will discuss the topic, “Retirement Decisions - Myth and Fact.” The panelists include: Juliet Goodfriend creator of the Bryn Mawr Film Institute; Jay Crawford, former CEO of Episcopal Academy and champion of lifelong learning; Joanne McBride a top realtor with Prudential Fox and Roach of Rosemont PA; and Ted Peters the Chairman and CEO of Bryn Mawr Trust Co. Issues to be discussed range from envisioning an engaged and fulfilling “second act” and lifestyle, to addressing financial and real estate issues associated with retirement.
I am enthusiastic about this event because I attended the same event last year, and I enjoyed it immensely. An optional tour of the community will take place at 11 a.m., followed by lunch from 12:00-1:00 and the panel discussion will take place from 1:00-2:30 p.m. To reserve a place contact Audrey Walsh at 610-526-7004 or AWalsh@BeaumontRetirement.com.
By the way, Beaumont stands out from other local retirement communities in that it is owned by the residents themselves. It is also a continuing care community so that it will provide services for you during your entire life. Some studies have shown that ownerhip of the nursing home or retirment community does make a difference.
You will be welcomed whether or not you take the tour of the facility, but I suggest taking the tour. It will help you understand some of the housing issues associated with retirement. I hope to see you there, and stay well until the next post.
