Third Woman Charged In Alleged Nursing Home Abuse Case

Officials confirm that a third woman is now facing charges after a case of abuse against a nursing home resident they say was caught on video.

A third woman has been charged in a case of alleged abuse of a 78-year-old dementia patient at a Haverford nursing home.

The alleged abuse happened at Quadrangle Retirement/Nursing Home Facility in Haverford.

Ayesha Muhammad was arrested Thursday afternoon, according to Haverford Township Detective Stephen Laughlin. Laughlin said Muhammad was arraigned before Judge Robert Burke and her bail was set at $35,000.

She was taken to prison, just like the other two women charged in the case.

Tyrina Griffin, 21, and Samirah Traynham, 22, were both already charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, criminal conspiracy, neglect of care-dependent person, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

Traynham was charged Monday and her bail was set at $25,000. Griffin was charged Wednesday afternoon and her bail was set at $50,000.

District Attorney of Delaware County Mike Green said the victim, a 78-year-old woman, suffers from severe dementia.

Green said that the woman’s son-in-law, Paul French, secretly installed a nanny cam inside a clock in her room after she complained to him and her daughter of alleged abuse from the staff at Quadrangle and after the facility’s administration stated that allegations of abuse were “unfounded,” citing the woman’s dementia as their reason.

One of the recordings from March 31 allegedly shows Griffin, Traynham and Muhammad enter the woman’s room and harass her, including making her stand topless and mock her, according to the affidavit. One of the videos of the alleged abuse can be seen here

“After putting a shirt on (the woman), Griffin is shown slapping at the left and right ear of (the woman) which are overly sensitive after the loss of her hearing aids. As (the woman) sits on her bed, Griffin stood in front of her mocking her, acting as if she was ‘shadow boxing,’” the affidavit stated. “Griffin then leans over and appears to yell in her left ear. During the incident, the third employee is shown poking (the woman) in the eye as she stood helpless in front of the three employees.”

I worked at the Quadrangle for 12 years. I know the nobody wants to hear this but it really is a caring and careful place. Unfoirtunitly there are some bad people out there. But like a random shooting you cant predict it or stop it. There are several proticals that are followed when it comes to resident safety and in my history they always were. I am sure when the family reported possible abuse it was investigated thourly. I have been a part of those investigations in the past. The Quadrangle is not the cause here it was 3 sick, nasty and stupid women. They should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and rot the rest of there life in a maximun securit prison. Turn the tables and hopefully they will get more abuse the the poor resident did. IMHO they should be put to death.

soo disgusting! the administrators at this facility are guilty for this crime as well! You cannot make a good enough excuse to me that you do not know the kind of people that are working for you.
M Carl from Haverford patch is absolutely right......horrible wages for such an important job.....however.....NO EXCUSE for this kind of behavior. My teenage daughter makes minimum wage, and treats her job with respect. These people are just inhuman in their actions and deserve to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. If it was my loved one.........believe me......these criminals would be "lucky" to have the law get to them first!
