PR Firm Opens in Havertown

One Havertown resident decided to keep his business local so he could keep business in the community.

Jon Tancredi has done public relations for for big timers like FOX News, Jeopordy, and the Kardashians -- and now he wants to help out small businesses in his own backyard.

When his former Philadephia firm fell to just one client last September, Tancredi decided now is the time to break off and start his own firm in June.

"Now’s a great time to do it," he said, implying that economy lows make the venture not as risky. "And it’s always important to keep trying to better yourself as a professional and as an agency also."

Tancredi named his firm TPR, which phonetically sounds like CPR, because he wants to get the message across that he's trying to breath new life into a company's communications. So far, the firm is just him and two employees that work on a by-needs basis.

Though he's used to commuting from Havertown -- where he's lived since 1994 -- to Philadelphia, Tancredi said he considers the fact that his firm is located outside the city as a benefit.

"I know I can get the national accounts no matter where I am," he said, adding that his current three clients all have naitonal reach. "I didn’t want small or midsized businesses to be fearful that they couldn’t work with us because we’re a big city agents."

Tancredi describes himself as very anchored in his community -- citing that he currently serves on the Haverford Music Festival's board, as well as the Haverford Youth Football and Cheerleading board. His daughter also volunteers for the Haverford Music Festival and coaches youth cheerleading. That's percisely why he kept his firm local.

"I put a lot into the community," he said. "It’s our town and our money."

Tancredi said he looks forward to helping out any small, local business that may be in need of communications help.

This guy is legit. I checked out his bio and got some references from senior executives at a couple of his larger client organizations. Beyond the business aspects of this article, the community should take note and be grateful for all of the work that he does in his spare time (football, cheerleading, music festival, etc...). Stacie B and Lauren, if you want to get in touch with him, I am sure his website has contact information. Best, Vince

I like to know about new businesses in the area, so this was news to me. If it's also a nice piece of promotion for TPR, then that showcase's the firm's skill.

I know Jon Tancredi professionally, and he has helped clients both big and small get national and local placements in both print and television media sources, from the Today Show and Good Morning America to local news, from the Wall Street Journal and Philadelphia Inquirer to hometown papers, and has even successfully pitched a television show revolving around a client's product! He is a real asset to the community, and feels strongly about helping local businesses thrive, as well as his national clients. Check him out if you want results.
