Haverford-Havertown Patch is seeking suggestions from readers for
individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. This week, we highlight high school student Shirina Braun.

Whiz Kid's Accomplishment

In 2008, a year after her grandmother passed away from Alzheimer's disease, Shirina Braun took action and started her own charitable foundation called Art4Alzheimer's. She created a website through which she sells her own original artwork and donates the proceeds to the fight to cure Alzheimer's. Now a high school sophomore, Braun has brought her foundation into her school and started the official Art4Alzhemier's club. The group is off to a good start and has already completed two bake sales to raise funds. In the new year they will begin a candy sale. Braun is also entering an essay contest with the hope to secure funds to start an online school store at Haverford High School where the school's many charitable groups, including Art4Alzheimer's, can sell their goods.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness

Shirina is a motivated, kind, hard-working and bright student. Her entrepreneurial spirit has made Art4Alzheimer's a success, and her warm heart draws other to follow in her footsteps.
