Haverford-Havertown Patch is seeking suggestions from readers for
individual kids, youth groups, teens, and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments. This week, we highlight seventh-grade student Renee Verdi who did excellent work in a recent Language Arts project.
Renee participated in a Language Arts assignment in Jason Finn's class. The assignment was to boil a fairytale down to five freeze frames. Jason Finn would turn out the lights and the team would do a freeze frame. He would then turn the light on to see the frame and so on for all five frames. The project was called Lights On/Lights Off.
Haverford Middle School Principal Daniel Horan wrote the following recommendation on Renee:
Whiz Kid's Age: 12
Whiz Kid's School: Haverford Middle School
Whiz Kid's Accomplishment: Dramatizing a legendary fairy tale with pizzazz and spunk.
Whiz Kid's Awesomeness: Renee never lets something as minor as her age get in the way of leading by example and showing enthusiasm for what makes her truly awesome: challenging others and herself to make sense of the world in which we live.
