Moms Talk: How To Discuss 9/11

Need some parenting advice?

Each week in Moms Talk, the Haverford-Havertown Patch’s Moms Council of experts and smart moms take your questions, give advice and share solutions.

So grab a cup of coffee and settle in as we start the conversation today with: How do you speak to your children about 9/11?

Answer from Mom’s Councilmember Julie (mother of 3): This is a good question because my children are at the age that they are starting to ask questions about that very sad time. I am honest with them and tell that that a very bad man tried to hurt our country.

We do not share the same views as this man and this is how he expressed his anger. Since they are young now this answer does satisfy them but I am starting to notice that the questions and answers are becoming more detailed.

Again I am honest but limit to terms that they understand.
