According to DCCC, a campus nominating committee comprised of faculty, administrators, staff and students selected the honorees. Students had to have earned a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and be considered sophomores (30 credits or more) at the time of nomination.

Decisions were based on students’ overall academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities, and potential for continued success.

They join an elite group of students selected from nearly 3,000 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations, according to DCCC. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
