Last Chance: Election Day, Carnival, Runs and Fun

With hundreds of events come and go in the community,  how often does one pass you by that you wish you had not missed out on? Each week The Haverford-Havertown Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

Primary Election Day

When: Tuesday, April 24, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

What: Though there are not any contested local races in the Havertown area, it's a presidential election year with a heated GOP primary race for a bid to the presidential seat. Do not forget to bring your ID as practice for November's election.

Where: Find the local polling sites in the Haverford area by precinct/ward.

Cost: Free

Broomall Fire Co.'s Spring Carnival

When: Friday, April 27th, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Saturday, April 28th, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, April 29th, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

What: The Broomall Fire Co. will be holding their annual spring carnival. Come meet the Broomall firefighters and enjoy some family time with rides, games, and food as well as face painting, a firefighter dunk tank, and a fire safety trailer on site. Save the dates for this fun family outing.

Where: At the Old Marple School yard off of N. Malin Road and West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 in Broomall.

Cost: Free

Education Foundation’s 5th Annual Twilight Run/Walk

When: Saturday, April 28, 2012, 4 p.m.

What: Haverford Education Foundation Twilight 5K Run & Walk, 1 Mile Elementary School Challenge

Price:

  • $10 for students before 4/25
  • $20 for adults before 4/25
  • $15 for students after 4/25
  • $25 for adults after 4/25

Garage Sale

When: Saturday, April 28, 2012, 8 a.m.

Where: 1331 Maryland Ave., Havertown

What: "Tons of kids clothing, household items, toys - all in like new condition from smoke free home."

Darby Creek Clean Up Day

When: Saturday, April 28, 2012, 9 a.m.

Where: Merry Place Park, 600 Glendale Rd., Havertown

What: "Volunteers of all ages welcome to come pick up trash along the creek."

Patch's Biggest Sports Fan Contest

When: Monday, April 30, at 9 a.m.

What: Vote for the photos now in Patch's Biggest Sports Fan contest. You have until 9 a.m. on Monday to vote for your favorite fan photos. The winning photos will win $240 Stubhub tickets to use towards a future game. 

Cost: Free
