A small sign looms on Route One near Havertown announcing the coming of a Giant grocery store.
Havertown Township deputy manager Joe Celia said the grocery store, which will be located at a former quarry at 116 Township Line Road, has obtained all proper permits and will open early spring.
Currently, he said, block walls are being put up.
Township manager Larry Gentile said the grocery store will be part of a shopping center and that there will also be a Lowe's in that location.

Geewiz, now the Wynnewood and Sproul Road GIANT's won't feel so lonely.
The new Lowe's will be much more convenient than Plymouth Meeting.
Those are the two anchors; what other stores are in the plan?

Trust me, Giant wouldn't open stores in Springfield, Havertown, and Wynnwood if the business wasn't there. As far as other retailers, Panera is on-board, and deals are being negotiated with Chipotle, Supercuts, and Visionworks. There are two pads available upfront for food / bank. Giant will have gas pumps. And there will be an access point from the Kohl's entrance on Rt. 3.

Giant has announced it will bid on the Acme chain, thus making it very monopolistic!! The simply truth is: Giant does not want ShopRite in this area!! Bet your money that when Superstale SuperFresh folds, one of the ShopRite owners will move into Manoa.
