Havertown Father Pleads Guilty To Possession of Child Porn

He may have to register as a Megan's Law sex offender.

Francis H. Cavone Jr. has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and related charges, his lawyer informed the Haverford-Havertown Patch

On Dec. 19, Cavone, a father of four, entered a guilty plea of one count of possession of child pornography and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, his attorney Steven Pacillio stated in an email to Patch on Monday, adding that each of the charges are a felony of the third degree. Pacillio’s statement is confirmed by court documents.

Cavone, who remains free on bail and lives on the 1200 block Leedom Rd., Havertown, was charged with 100 counts of possession of child pornography on his . , nearly 98 percent of the charges were dismissed or reduced, as a part of the negotiated waiver of a preliminary hearing.

While Pacillio stated that he would not discuss any possible further legal actions that Cavone may consider, he did add that Cavone might have to register as a Megan’s Law sex offender.

“The statute commonly referred to as Megan’s Law requires any individual convicted of 18 Pa.C.S.A. §6312 to register for a period of 10 years,” he explained.

Cavone’s guilty plea to possession of child pornography is an 18 Pa.C.S.A. §6312.

According to court documents and Pacillio, Cavone will have a sentencing hearing on Monday, March 19.

Patch called a number listed for Cavone on Wednesday morning. The woman who picked up the phone, who did not identify herself, said that Cavone was not feeling well but said he would return Patch’s call.

He has not yet returned Patch’s phone call.
