Havertown Cub Scouts Cleanup Township

Matt Perthes shares this information about these great young men:

Community service projects are a big part of scouting and recently Den #2 of Cub Scout Pack 11 in Havertown took part in a cleanup at Merry Place in Haverford Township.

Cub Scouts follow the Leave No Trace Pledge and these boys spent amost an hour filling trash bags. The boys collected plastic spoons, plastic bottles, candy wrappers, cigarette butts, bottle caps, and fast food wrappers – among other things.

When asked why they thought people would just throw their trash on the beach instead of in the trash cans, these 8-year-old boys just could not understand why anyone would not use the numerous trash cans provided by the township.

As these boys proved, even one person can make a difference.
