Haverford Craftsmen Open Studios to Visitors
Thirty-three local craftspeople will exhibit their work in six Haverford homes starting Nov. 30.
Are you looking to support local businesses, put a dent in your holiday shopping list and meet your neighbors?
You can do it all in one fell swoop at the end of the month, when the Haverford Guild of Craftsmen holds its fourth annual weekend studio tour.
What is the tour?
Six local craftspeople will open their studios to the public. Each studio will have about five guild members showcasing and answering questions about their work, which will be for sale.
When does it run?
The tour runs all three days of the weekend:
- Friday, Nov. 30: 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 1: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec. 2: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
"I love it. It feels like day goes by so quickly," Guild president Cathy Hetznecker said. "We all work alone most days of year. So, to have people come through interested and who want to learn what we do, it's very energizing."
What types of crafts/craftspeople will be on display?
There will be 33 craftspeople participating, spread throughout the six studios. Here's a partial listing:
- Photographers
- ceramic artists
- lots of jewelers
- painters
- a watchmaker
- a glass artist
- a fiber artist
- a master plumber who makes jewelry and fountains out of copper
- a woman who makes dyed scarves
- handpainted frames and mirrors
- a quiltmaker
Where will it be held?
The tour consists of six local studios. These are indoor, heated home studios; they might feature light refreshments, and holiday music and decorations. Hetznecker said that four of the homes are easily walkable, while the other two are slightly farther away.
- 2912 Rising Sun Road, Ardmore
- 115 Ellis Road, Havertown
- 3 W. Clearfield Road, Havertown
- 18 Colfax Road, Havertown
- 31 E. Clearfield Road, Havertown
- 28 Mill Road, Havertown
Are credit cards accepted?
