Driver Nearly Strikes Telephone Pole, Arrested for DUI
If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.
On Thursday, Jan. 19 at approximately 11:44 p.m., Richard Beswick, 36, of Havertown, was observed by Newtown police traveling eastbound on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 in a BMW, according to a Newtown police incident report.
Police observed the BMW move from the outer lane across the dividing line of Rt. 3 and then back into the outer lane and onto the right side of the road numerous times, according to the report.
Police activated their emergency lights around the 3900 block of Rt. 3 when the BMW began to move to the extreme right of the road and nearly striking the telephone pole located on the southeast corner of Rt. 3 at the entrance to Uno Chicago Grill restaurant.
Beswick was able to avoid striking the pole and eventually stopped at the intersection of Rt. 3 and College Avenue. According to the report, police observed a strong odor of alcohol coming from Beswick.
Beswick submitted to a portable breathalyzer test in which a 0.155 percent blood alcohol concentration was recorded. Beswick submitted to two additional field sobriety tests in which he also failed, according to the report.
Beswick was arrested and charged for DUI, reckless driving and failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic.

Since when is a driver not allowed to change lanes on west chester pike? Portable breath test is no good either.I bet this cop was looking for some easy pickings. If this is all this cop has, your man walks!

A Breathalyzer is not a accurate test to measure B.A.C. A driver could be .05 or 2.31 with a breathalyzer.Unless this cop took him for blood, the beemerman walks. See ya,have a nice day Woody!

They got a drunk driver off the road before anyone got hurt or killed, if his BMW is new he'll get a slap on the wrist, if it's an old piece of crap BMW he's in big trouble.

Your right Jimbo, WestChester Pike #3 runs east and west and Newtown Township is up RT 1 north. The police report is flawed.
