Curious George Gets a Doggy Sister
The family who adopted Curious George, the Pit Bull/American Bulldog that was found emaciated in October, will soon adopt another abandoned dog that was also in need of a home.
Curious George, the well-known Pit Bull/American Bulldog adopted from the Delaware County SPCA in December after a long road to recovery, is about to get a dog sister—one that was named after him.
Georgette, a white Pit Bull Terrier was found only one week after Curious George made his way to the Delco SPCA in October, rooting through a pile of trash in Chester, accoriding to a press release by the Delco SPCA.
She was named after Curious George as their appearance and apparent neglect were similar. Ribs showing, urine-stained with torn ears and a trash bag around her neck, Georgette was extremely fearful of people and dogs. Her story was featured here on 6ABC Action News.
Georgette spent months at the Delco SPCA recovering before being fostered by Perfect Pooch: The Pack Leaders, receiving extensive training and dog socialization, where Curious George also spent some time before going to his forever home.
In May, Curious George’s parents, Aimee and Eric Tysarczyk, expressed interest in fostering Georgette, who they affectionately refer to as “Gigi” with the possibility of adopting her, in what the Delco SPCA refers to as a “foster-to-adopt” situation.
Aimee Tysarczyk said previously that she and her husband always wanted to adopt a shelter dog and soon they will give two shelter dogs loving homes.
Curious George was found emaciated and wandering the streets and was taken to the Delco SPCA by a Good Samaritan on Halloween. He was cared for and treated at the SPCA where he recovered much more quickly than expected. And by December he was officially embraced by Eric and Aimee Tysarczyk.
Curious George has become the unofficial, local advocate for the Pit Bull breed. In March, he was honored with the annual Ginger Award at the Delaware County SPCA's Rescued on the Runway event. The Ginger Award is given to an outstanding and exemplary Pit Bull in the community that is helping to educate people about the breed and prevent cruelty to animals.
The Tysarczyks, with Curious George and Georgette in tow, will make Georgette’s adoption official on June 6 when they will sign her adoption papers.
