Civil War Era Music Coming to Library Sunday
Two musicians will tell stories and perform in period clothing.
History and music buffs might want to visit Haverford Township Free Library on Sunday, Jan. 27. Two guest musicians will lead a discussion and performance titled Music of the Civil War Era.
The library website describes it as an interactive musical and interpretive program:
Musicians Joe Becton and Antoine Watts perform and tell stories in 19th century style clothing and equipment. They interpret music from Francis Johnson, 1830’s to Julia Ward How 1860’s. They perform styles including spirituals, underground railroad songs, minstrel songs, and camp songs on guitar, flute, harmonica and voice.
The program runs from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The program is organized by PA Forward, a group dedicated to vibrant community centers.
