Baby on Board? Woman Allegedly Drove Drunk with 16-Month-Old Daughter
Police say the woman had drug paraphernalia in her purse at the time of the incident.
A West Chester woman with her 16-month-old daughter in tow was arrested for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia in the township last week, Haverford Police are reporting.
According to court documents, on December 10 at 12:55 a.m. Amanda Jasper, 37, was pulled over for speeding on West Chester Pike and Eagle Road. The officer noted that Jasper smelled like alcohol and had bloodshot eyes. She was also reportedly slurring her speech, and fumbled with her identification when asked to provide it to the officer.
Jasper was removed from the vehicle and asked to perform a series of field sobriety tests, the results of which confirmed the officer’s suspicion that she had been driving while intoxicated.
She was arrested and taken to Delaware County Hospital to have blood drawn for testing. Previous to her arrest, a search of her purse yielded a needle, spoon, tourniquet, a device commonly used to smoke crack, and a push rod.
Amanda Jasper was released from county jail after posting 10 percent of her $5,000 bail. She faces preliminary hearing on December 20.
The 16-month-old was released to her father.
