ACME Sets Reopening Date

Are you looking forward to getting your groceries there again?

ACME officials are planning to reopen the grocery store's flagship market in Bryn Mawr on June 1, Lower Merion Township Commissioner Scott Zelov told Patch Tuesday afternoon.

The store will have been closed for just over a year.

The ACME closed in May 2011 and had been scheduled to reopen March 2 before bad weather last year delayed construction.

"Everyone in the community is asking about it," Zelov said. "I think it's going to be very popular."

This new Acme Super Market is a prime example of how a construction project is supposed to be built This Acme Building used the best building materials and labor available in todays world. The excavator, the bricklayer, the refrigiration company were all top of the line and 100% union. The new library on Lancaster Ave. and Bryn Mawr ave,is an embarrassment, and a slap in the face to the taxpayers of lower merion. The library took forever to complete, years, and it still looks like it's not finished. What is the final bill for the library? The two new dorms at Haverford College look two giant dark brick cell blocks, that sufocate the older exiting stone buildings. These stone buildings are a part of the schools fabric. I think they realize now(the alumi) that union stone work in Phildelphia is the way to go. Local I, has the best of the old world craftsmanship. Lapore Bros. and the Belfie Bros, are some of the best. If the money for these two dormatorys was donated by an alumi or alumi's it was a waste of money, because these two buildings look like a prison. The code in lower merion has been handed to unlicensed handy men, who's training does not support there so called inspections. It's time for the township of Lower Merion to enforce it's codes, without them, the whole town will look like one big Honky Tonk.

Hi Jim,

How would you handle the dorm buildings? If you could be put in charge and money was not an issue, what would you do? Take them down and start over or remodel them?

Take care,
Anthony
