However, according to Richard Stanko, the father of Peter Stanko, his son was driving his blue Toyota Highlander and was making a left turn into the Manoa Shopping Center from the eastbound lane on West Chester Pike, stressing that his son had the green turn arrow, when the driver of the Honda SUV allegedly hit his son’s vehicle.

Stanko was called away before more questions could be asked and his son had no comment.

Jim McCans, director of the paramedics, could only say that the light-colored Honda SUV had a driver and two passengers, which two were sent to the University of Pennsylvania for evaluation and the other person was sent to Delaware Memorial Hospital for precautionary measures.

Police said they needed help to remove the door from the Honda, which Bob Byrne, who was on his way to when he came upon the accident, wrote in an e-mail to the Haverford-Havertown Patch that he saw the Jaws of Life being packed away.

Police shutdown the westbound lanes of West Chester Pike in front of the Manoa Shopping Center for nearly half an hour, Byrne wrote.

Llanerch and Manoa Fire companies and ambulances were on the scene.
