Havertown Resident Denise Montana will perform at the Ocean City Free Library March 10th

Continuing the popular Somers Point Jazz Society Education Series at the Ocean City Free Library is a program called “The Jazz Vocalist … From Melody to Scatting.” Planned for Sunday, March 10 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., the program features three very talented performers – Paul Jost, Denise Montana and Haverford residentGina Roche. It is free and open to the public and takes place at 17th and Simpson Streets in Ocean City, NJ.

The program is hosted by Michael Pedicin, the long-time education chair of the Somers Point Jazz Society who is a world-renowned saxophonist. Each vocalist will present, through discussion and performance, some of the wonderful styles and renditions of their favorite jazz singers of the past and present, as well as presenting their own vocal stylings and musical personalities. Melody, lyrical interpretation, and scatting will be the mode of the performances. These highly acclaimed, talented vocalists will be joined by pianist Dean Schneider, bassist Rich Kurtz, and drummer Vic Stevens.

DENISE MONTANA is a vibrant, spirited performer whose singing and acting have earned her worldwide recognition. She is a vocal stylist who traces her roots from jazz to blues, rock to pop to the great American Songbook/Standards, Denise's latest CD, In My Life, has received excellent reviews....including four stars from Karl Stark in the Phila Inquirer. Selling millions and going double platinum, the song Merry Christmas All on Salsoul Records is a classic perennial favorite and has become one of the top 100 Christmas songs of all time. She sold over a million copies of You're My # 1 Dee Jay on Atlantic Records. Denise has performed throughout America and performed on television and in theater in the United States and Canada.
