29th Annual Kidney Ball

On March 9th, 2013, over 500 guests are expected to attend the National Kidney Foundation’s 29th Annual Kidney Ball, at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia.  The ball is one of the organization’s largest annual fundraisers and is expected to raise over $250,000 for local kidney patients.

Each year the NKF selects a volunteer and physician to honor who has championed our mission and is dedicated to helping those with kidney disease here in the Delaware Valley.  This year’s gala will honor Dr. Frank McCusker, Questcor Pharmaceuticals, and 1960s teen sensation Bobby Rydell.

Dr. Frank McCusker has been volunteering with the National Kidney Foundation by serving on the Kidney Ball planning committee for ten years and the Board of Directors from 2005 to 2010. He is a Saint Joseph’s University Alum, practices in suburban Philadelphia and Montgomery County, and is a self-proclaimed “life-long Philadelphian.”

“I feel fortunate to be able to touch the lives of people in this special field. Nephrology offers a great blend of technology and science,” McCusker said. “But the bottom line comes down to the people you’re helping.”

The Kidney Ball is proving to be a star-studded event, with guests like Glenn “Hurricane” Schwartz of NBC 10, recently crowned Miss Pennsylvania USA Jessica Billings, Patty Jackson of WDAS, former NFL player Joe Fields, and many more local celebrities all expected to attend. A live and silent auction will take place and guests will be entertained by the “Best of Philly” award-winning party band, The Stingers.

The Kidney Ball is sponsored by Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, DaVita, BPG Properties LTD, Vitaquest, ABKCO Records, and many more. Those interested in attending or sponsoring can find more information online at www.nkfdv.org.

The National Kidney Foundation seeks to prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.
